PURPOSE

The Delta Star Customer Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement software solutions for the launch of Special Projects from product development and launch to a growth/sustainment business model. Candidates must be able to show a proven record of building and maintaining software solutions that provide growth and sustainability for their existence. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical software engineer well versed in both software and hardware.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this role would be, but not limited to:

Collaboration with business leadership, partners, and vendors to assist in developing programming solutions for the technical development roadmap and sustainment of our product offerings that meets/exceeds stakeholder expectations

Design and test validation in multiple integrated code bases over the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to effectively and efficiently deliver high-quality software

Learning and Improving a multi-faceted code base including Linux Kernel and drivers, OS installation and integration, Embedded Software, Server backend and frontend software

Establishing and maintaining a change control process and a software release schedule cadence

Providing support, technical expertise, and problem resolution for internal and external customers

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Develop, configure and test operating systems and associated applications with an emphasis on variants of Linux implemented on ARM and x86 based architectures. Linux Kernel and Drivers written in C

Develop and test embedded software applications in a variety of software frameworks including C++/Qt and QML Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)

Server based SQL database design

Implement, modify, and test device drivers and tools such as touchscreen drivers, video drivers, CAN drivers, and user calibration tools

Identifying and documenting specific defects in the testing process of code development

Maintaining and updating technical documentation, capability documentation and external use documentation

Maintaining defect tracking, status of the defects, and documentation of defects until resolution

Assisting in determining the components of the code changes associated with the software releases

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a focus on programming

7+ Years of experience in software development and testing

Experience with programming languages such as: C++, C#, Q+, Java, Python and/or JavaScript

Cyber Security / Information Assurance / Information Security

Red Hat Certification

CISSP (Preferred)

Software development experience across the SDLC: Design, Qualification, and Sustainment

Project Planning

Requirement gathering and validation

Software and Hardware testing

Configuration management

Product Support

Experienced in agile development methodologies (such as Scrum) and a team-oriented, iterative approach to delivering new features and functionality

Demonstrated excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Proven experience with integrated complex systems

Strong Technical Acumen

In depth understanding of software at the architecture level: Web, Databases, Cloud, Embedded Software, Firmware

Software Development Life Cycle project management and documentation

Linux Operating System

Industrial Equipment Communication and Networking

Communication Protocols: TCP/IP, Serial/MODBUS, SCADA, DNP-3, 61850

Analog and Digital Input/output

Fluent in Atassian/JIRA, Confluence

Embedded Software: Qt

Web Front End technology: Backbone or Angular

Custom Firmware

Experience defining Graphical User Interfaces (definition, wire-framing, mock-ups)

Must have the ability to multi task and project manage in a fast-paced demanding environment

Ability to work independently and collaborative with limited supervision

Very organized and solution focused

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audience
