Responsibilities
The Academic Product Creation team is looking to hire multiple freelance graphic designers to help out with the following tasks:
• Book Layout/Implementation: Using Adobe InDesign to layout and implement changes to print curriculum based on a template that meets project specs.
• PPT Layout/Implementation: Using Microsoft PowerPoint to layout and implement changes to slideshows based on a template that meets project specs.
• Technical Figure Design: Using Adobe Illustrator to create accurate figure, graphs, and tables found in the math and science subjects of our curriculum.
• Creative Figure Design: Using Adobe Illustrator to create more illustrative, "hand-drawn" graphics. (Note: you can use other software for this, as long as the final product comes into Illustrator OK and is editable there)
The best candidates for this work is able to do 3 or 4 of the things listed above extremely well, however, we are still very much interested in you if you're super awesome at 1 or 2 of them.
Requirements * Eye for design and good aesthetic principles
• Ability to follow instructions well
• High attention to detail
• Flexible availability and a strong preference to be available to complete work during both the week and on weekends. (Note: Since we’ll have a pool of Designers, you may opt to reject an assignment if your availability is limited. There is no penalty for not taking an assignment.)
• Quick turnaround time. Once you accept an assignment, the typical deadline turnaround time is 24-48 hours. Assignments will typically take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to complete.
• Familiarity with, and access to, the following:
• Stable Internet connection
• Google Account to access Google Doc files (Gmail is fine; free)
• Dropbox Account (free, but paid plan is preferred)
• Zoom Video Conferencing (free to download)
• Slack (free to download)
• [Preferred] Experience doing graphic design in a high school curricular capacity.
Benefits
All contractors will be paid a flat rate for each assignment. The average assignment will take between 30 minutes to 2 hours and will pay between $12.50 and $50.00.
Payment estimates will be determined based on the assignment complexity and provided at the time an assignment becomes available.

If you decide to move forward with this position, you'll need to complete an unpaid trial assignment for each of the four sub-roles of this position that you'd like to be considered for: Book Layout/Implementation; PPT Layout/Implementation; Technical Figure Design; Creative Figure Design.
These assignments will be send out approximately 1-2 weeks after this position goes live. A deadline for these assignments to be turned back in will be given out at the time the assignments go out.
After that, those who pass the unpaid trial assignments will be invited to a paid training, which will be compensated at a rate of $20 / hour. If you're invited to training, that does not mean you've been hired. Training will take place over two days an take roughly 1-2 hours per day. There will also be homework lasting approximately 30-60 minutes in between the two days.
Those who do well in training and on the homework assignment will then be invited to come on as a freelance worker for MasteryPrep and be able to take on assignments moving forward.'
