Perform hospital HB coding for ambulatory surgery across multiple service areas (ortho, pain, wound, neuro, cardiac, etc.).
Review inpatient and outpatient medical records for documentation, abstracting, and analysis.
Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to the highest level of specificity.
Apply modifiers, CCI edits, LCD/NCD rules, and payer regulations accurately.
Research and resolve coding issues using Epic Charge Review Work Queue functionality.
Collaborate with Clinical Auditors and maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Maintain productivity and quality standards (95% accuracy).
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
Completion of nationally recognized coding program (AHIMA/AAPC)
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification required
2+ years of outpatient medical coding experience
Hospital coding experience in surgery and wound service areas
EHR experience (Epic preferred)
Ability to work from a dedicated home office space
