Program Overview:
The AI Enhanced Engineering Systems Design Graduate Certificate is a rigorous, four-module program designed to equip engineers and technologists with the knowledge and skills to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into complex engineering systems. The SME will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum to bridge theoretical understanding with industry-relevant applications.
Key Responsibilities
As the Subject Matter Expert, you will:
1. Curriculum Development
• Design the syllabus for one core module:
o SSW 656 – Advanced Software Architecture: Integrating AI/ML
• Define clear learning objectives, instructional strategies, and module-level outcomes aligned with graduate-level expectations.
2. Content Creation
• Develop high-quality, academically rigorous course materials such as: scripts for video lectures, reading materials, case studies, discussion prompts, multimedia elements (in coordination with the instructional design team)
• Ensure technical depth and relevance for working professionals and recent graduates.
• Design modular content that can be reused across programs and easily tagged for search and retrieval.
• Document skills and competencies for each module and apply SEO-style tags for future indexing in a central content database.
• Use institutional blueprint templates to align learning outcomes, competencies, and content duration per module.
Content Review
• Review the content updates made to the following existing modules:
o SYS 625 – Fundamentals of Systems Engineering
o SYS 650 – System Architecture and Design
o SYS 626 – AI & ML for Systems and Enterprises
Assessment Design
• Create formative and summative assessments, including: Assignments, quizzes, Capstone projects
• Develop grading rubrics and model answers.
Collaboration & Review
• Work closely with instructional designers, program managers, and academic reviewers.
• Participate in internal review cycles and incorporate feedback to enhance learning materials.
• Stay current with industry and academic trends to ensure program relevance.
Qualifications:
Education
• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, AI/ML, Software Architecture, or a closely related field.
Professional Experience
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in:
o Systems engineering
o AI/ML integration in enterprise or engineering settings
o Software architecture with modern technologies
• Experience designing or leading AI-enabled system design projects is a strong advantage.
Additional Requirements
• Prior experience developing academic curricula or corporate training content is preferred.
• Strong understanding of both foundational systems design and applied AI/ML technologies.
• Excellent writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with standards like INCOSE, ISO/IEC 15288 (for systems engineering), or TOGAF (for architecture).
• Experience with modeling tools like SysML, UML, or similar.
• Knowledge of AI/ML platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure ML, or AWS Sagemaker.
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, data engineering pipelines, and software lifecycle integration.
Skills in the spotlight
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Salesforce development.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and integration patterns.
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite integration is highly desirable.
• Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I, Platform Developer II) are a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
